Meet Chameleon Clock, which uses the rear-facing camera on your device to blend it in to its surroundings. The clock displays what’s behind it on the screen along with the time, making your device appear to disappear.
The time can be toggled between white and black to match your device or to blend in further with your surroundings.
For those locations that might not be the most aesthetically pleasing, you can go into Chameleon Mode, and have the clock simply pick a color from behind it, blending into its surroundings that way.
In reality, the effect is not quite as amazing as it sounds — the camera on the iPad makes it so objects shown on the screen appear a bit closer than they actually are. While not an issue when dealing with larger spaces, this means that the clock isn’t exactly able to blend in places like a cluttered desktop or office space, where objects are often quite close to the camera lens. While not an authentic look, it’s still an interesting one, despite this discrepancy.
Chameleon Clock is available now from Apple’s App Store.
