The past few months haven’t been good for the reputations of police officers across the country.
And while Americans continue to struggle with their relationships with law enforcement, NBA player Roy Hibbert of the Indiana Pacers Instagrammed an unforgettable moment of kindness yesterday between an officer and a homeless man.
From inside his car, Hibbert saw an Indianapolis officer pull over to the side of the road, open his trunk and hand a pair of boots to a homeless man begging on the side of the road.
Without flashiness or a big “thank you,” the cop got back into his car and drove away.
Hibbert snapped a shot of the moment and told Buzzfeed,
Not all police officers are what you hear about in Ferguson. This type of stuff you don’t hear about too often.
Hibbert said that he and the Pacers have contacted the department in an attempt to find the officer because he wants to return the gratitude with free tickets to a game.
