Santiago Méndez says:

You must be so proud of your logic. However, Argo is based on both a book written by the protagonist and an article on Wired. I’m sure you’ll come up with a dumb justification for why the “common population” still wouldn’t know about it even though it had been declassified and published for years before the movie was made.
In any case, not my point, because movie trailers sell movies, not facts.

even if they did show him dying, you couldn’t possibly complain about a spoiler since its common knowledge unless you’re a moron. Argo was a classified mission that was never broadcast that hardly any of the common population knew about. Even if they did show the plane scene, people wouldn’t know what they were seeing since it wasn’t broadcast on tv and didnt weeks worth of media coverage,

Santiago Méndez says:

In the trailer for Lincoln, you don’t see him fucking dying, do you? Do they show all the people being rescued (or in the plane) in the trailer for Argo? No, you don’t, because it would spoil the climax of the movie. This has nothing to do with true events, this has to do with movies and with things you just have to avoid showing in a trailer.

daspoon456 says:

yeah they wouldn’t show jack dieing in the water because jack and rose and the entire damn story besides the titanic sinking was all made up and didn’t happen.

Santiago Méndez says:

I’m well aware it’s based on true events and I read about it after having watched the first trailer, so what? Titanic was based on true events too and that wouldn’t justify showing Leo DiCaprio freeze to death in the trailer. This is a movie, not a news broadcast or a documentary, it’s fiction (yes, it IS fiction) and the trailer is showing way more than it needs to show, period.

daspoon456 says:

yes

daspoon456 says:

this is based on a true story. I watched it live on the news. SPOILERS the navy snipes them in the end. Capt. Phillips saved. Wow, thanks life for spoiling this movie for me. Honestly, what you’re doing is the same as complaining about watching a WW2 movie and seeing that pearl harbor gets bombed in a trailer, then say, “wow hollywood just spoiled this for me.” lol you idiot.

Erik Ramirez says:

good point

Santiago Méndez says:

Yep, exactly. The first trailer was good, showed just enough to get you interested. This one leaves me wondering what surprise is left for the movie itself.

pookeyblow says:

The trailer felt like a very quick version of the movie.

Santiago Méndez says:

Well, this trailer pretty much spoils as many plot points as can be spoiled. My guess is that Hollywood does this when it’s losing confidence in its movie and “data” indicates it won’t perform as good as initially projected. So they show more in an act of silly desperation. Man up, Hollywood, you used to be braver in the 80s and 90s.

I dont think they showed the “Based on a true story” enough times

Ben Dover says:

I think, and i could be wrong on this… but I think it’s based on a true story.
