My early movie review of the new thriller CAPTAIN PHILLIPS. The Movie Files Podcast: http://tinyurl.com/77azp4q Rowenet Blog (On WordPress): http://rowenet.w…
Can’t wait to see this!
I watched Cloud Atlas last week for the first time and I loved it. It was the only big film from last year I had not seen cos of the mixed reviews and what not… But I loved it, didn´t feel like 2 and a half hours at all. So surprised by it. Every story and several performances in some scenes.
I loved Cloud Atlas and his performances in it, but he’s leaps and bounds on a different level in CAPTAIN PHILLIPS.
What about Cloud Atlas? Tom hanks played like six different performances and all of them were different and interesting. Even if you maybe didnt like cloud atlas, you can’t deny his acting chops in that movie. Still, great review and can’t wait to see this movie, really excited!
Well then perhaps it was more of a screenplay issue then a time issue.
I don’t know if there were particular scenes I would cut, but there were a couple of parts that dragged on a bit. Don’t take this as a huge negative, though, as I still loved the film.
well let me ask you a question.
Were there scenes in the movie you thought should’ve been cut? Or was everything necessary?
It’s not so much that I have a problem with long movies (PULP FICTION, APOCALYPSE NOW, and THERE WILL BE BLOOD rank among my all-time favorites), it’s just that I take issue with movies that are longer than they need to be. If a movie could be tighter and more effective at a shorter length, I’ll happily point it out in my review.
I’m seeing it opening weekend.
I don’t know what’s your problem with the lenght…. for example there are a lot of masterpieces in cinema which length is more than 3 or 4 hours…. why a movie with 2 h and 20 (ej.) is a problm?
