Typicly Bates are good for a year or 2 before a large scuff … So after buying an annual pair of dress shoes for my uniform (usmc) i turned to rothco’s. Typicly Bates are good for a year or 2 before a large scuff does them in and your out $100. The last pair of rothcos i bought i had for about 3 years with only minor scuffing. The down fall of these shoes is the shoe litterally started to split in half across the top where the creasing goes along the toes. But with the low cost, it doesnt break the bank for a pair of shoes i wear once every 2 or 3 months…

Fit is terrible! I have never had dress shoes be SO uncomfortable. I don’t know that going down to a size 14 would help.So I’m pretty used to new shoes needing breaking in, get that leather soft.
