Mashable’s Gift of the Day series highlights cool, interesting and fun products for that special someone on your holiday list.
The Parrot Zik headphones fulfill every requirement you might expect — great audio, noise-cancelation and Bluetooth-enabled. But the high-tech gadgetry built in makes for some pretty cool extras.
The built-in accelerometer can sense when you remove the headphones and put them back on. Take the headphones off and your music pauses; put them back on and it starts again. Now if someone talks to you while you’re wearing headphones, you don’t miss a beat.
The controls are really amazing. Just slide your finger up the right earphone to increase the volume and down to decrease. The right ear cup is touch-sensitive, and thus, acts as an invisible control. Swipe your finger from front to back to change the song or view the next video — or whatever you’re watching on your smartphone. Bluetooth in the left ear cup lets you connect to Parrot’s iOS or Android app.
Noise canceling is optional with these headphones — turn the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on or off. One of the ear pads has a mic that senses when your jaw is moving — it’ll up the noise cancellation so your call isn’t disrupted.
The Parrot Zik have not only been applauded for their super comfortable, over-the-ear design, but also for their functionality. The headband is made of flexible leather and the ear cups swivel for easy storage.
