Multiple Explosions Hit Cairo On Eve Of Uprising Anniversary

2. At least six people were killed Friday in a wave of bomb attacks around Cairo.

This was the site of the bomb blast in downtown Cairo, which hit a security compound and nearby museum. Police said four people were killed when the bomb exploded at approximately 6:15 a.m., local time.

Within hours a second blast was reported in the Dokki neighborhood, killing one. Both blasts targeted security officers, raising concerns that an Islamist insurgency against the state is gathering pace. An explosion near a cinema on the road to the Pyramids of Giza on the outskirts of Cairo also killed led to one fatality.

8. In front of some of the blast sites, people began to chant against the Muslim Brotherhood, although police said that a militant Islamist group from the Sinai was likely behind the blast.
