A 26-year-old man was arrested for punching an 80-year-old in the face at a restaurant when the old man asked him to stop swearing.
According to Opposing Views, Harry Sander was having a hard time enjoying his dinner at an Applebee’s in Port Orange, FL, on Sunday, Sept. 28.
He told police that Mikie Sawyer, sitting nearby, was “talking obscenities” and frequently using the words “f*ck,” “tits” and “ass.”
Sander told police he “asked [Sawyer] politely if he could please stop using” the foul language so loudly, explaining, “In my Germany you don’t speak in such a manner.”
Sawyer’s reply, as per a witness, was,
I don’t care where you are from whether it be Russia or Dutch, take your ass to the other side of the bar.
Sander declined to relocate, so Sawyer punched him in the face and threw him to the ground, leaving him with a “discolored and bruised” left cheek, as reported by police.
An Applebee’s manager followed Sawyer as he left the restaurant with two friends and claims Sawyer charged at him, threatening assault.
Police pulled Sawyer’s car over soon after and charged him with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor and battering a person over the age of 65, which a felony.
He has since been released from Volusia County Branch Jail after posting $2,500 bail.
